I am a writer and reporter living in Los Angeles. I focus on local politics, state violence, the criminal legal system, migration, and literature for publications including the New York Review of Books, New York magazine, The New Republic, The Nation, The Drift, Mother Jones, Lux, Inquest, Aperture, and the Los Angeles Review of Books. I am also a part time staff writer at Bolts magazine.
I hold a degree in comparative literature from Brown, where I edited and wrote for the College Hill Independent. In a past life, I worked on refugee & migrant solidarity projects in Vermont, France, and Greece and worked at restaurants in 4 of 6 New England states.
